CHESS CLUB THANKS POST
Editor Post: The inauguration of the department on “Chess” in the columns of The Sunday Post has been received with so much pleasure by chess players generally throughout the city that we take the liberty of expressing to you the deep sense of gratification that is felt by the members of this club in the good work you are doing toward fostering and encouraging the interest of your readers in this intellectual and fascinating game.
Since the advent of the present calamitous war it is everywhere conceded that the world must look to America for any real advancement in chess and we are very glad to see that The Post has taken such timely advantage of it opportunity and is promoting so efficiently the interests of the chess community thus making the Capital a leader in this branch of knowledge, as it is in so many others.
Congratulating you upon the success of your column and assuring you of our appreciation of your splendid work, we beg to remain,
THE CAPITAL CITY CHESS AND CHECKER CLUB,
Washington, Jan. 27, 1915.

A typical scene at the club Wednesday evening, when the tournament for the club championship is held. All other contests pale before these duels.
