THE BRITISH CHESS MAGAZINE
The new volume which commences this month contains the first of a series of twelve articles on “The BCM Guide to the Openings,” and a more valuable feature of the magazine it would be difficult to imagine. Each article will illustrated as far as possible with games from actual play. The idea is a most excellent one and will no doubt add to the popularity of the magazine. Another special feature of the January issue is the admirable report of the telephone match between the City of London and the Yorkshire Chess Association, with photographs of the teams. Mr. T. Winter Wood, the father of “The Queen of Problemists” contributes an interesting article on “My Chess Reminiscences,” and there is the usual quantity of chess news from all sources and a good selection of games and problems. An article on “Chess Literature” is well worth its place and altogether the current bustle of the B.C.M. is one the general excellence of which the editor and his contributors are to be congratulated upon.
