The Good Companion solving tournament held yesterday (Washington's Birthday) at the L. A. Chess club entertained a large crowd. Donald Mugridge, 16-year-old expert, won first prize and L. A. Rosenblatt won second prize.
The finals tourney at the Los Angeles Chess club for the 1922 city championship is nearing completion with S. Mlotkowski now in the lead. E. R. Perry, 1921 champion, dropped two games last week, and H. Borochow, the other leading contender, lost the following game, which is contributed by the winner, E. W. Grabill.
