Game of the Week
The young player from Mexico, Carlos Torre, burst upon the chess world in 1925 like a flaming meteor. In the Moscow 1925 tournament he produced a dazzling masterpiece, beating former world champion E. Lasker in a world-famous game. In this same year he produced other brilliant wins against the world's leading players, one of which we present below. Sadly, however, Torre disappeared from the chess scene almost as quickly as he had come, leaving only a most sparkling set of games behind.
