Good news to South Florida chessers is the fact that E. Forry Laucks recently bought a home in Hollywood. Mr. Laucks is president and founder of the famous Log Cabin Chess Club of West Orange, N.J. which since 1934 has been noted for its national and internations barnstorming chess tours.
U.S. Champion Bob Fischer gained a good deal of his skill and experience as a member of this group. In 1955 we played them a match and your chess editor had the pleasure (!?) of losing to the boy wonder.
With Mr. Laucks this time is Pal Benko, international grandmaster who competed in last year's Candidates Tournament and has won many titles in this country since he left Hungary. Also in the group are H. Hesse, former runner-up for the U.S. Open title; J. Virowitcz, Hungarian master; and H. Herbst, New York expert.
