Herman Steiner, international master, now located in Los Angeles, is a native of Hungary and is but 24 years of age. He recently won the New York State championship. He was a member of the United States Olympic team, 1928. Was champion of Hungarian Club, New York City. Budapest, 1928, he lost to Capablanca but drew with Marshall and Spielmann, and finished only a half-point behind the prize winners. Is a cousin of Lajos Steiner, Hungarian champion, now located in New York City. The following is from the Hastings Christmas tourney, January, 1929, against the world's woman champion.
