Chess Columns Additional Archives/Social Media

May 28, 1972 The Sacramento Bee, The Chess Column

< Prev Index Next >

This week's “chess” column is filled with more absurdly political Zionist drivel for propaganda, also whose criticisms upon Mrs. Regina Fischer are easily refuted, considering the fact both mother and daughter were college educated. Not “poor” as the sorry idle rumor goes here. The news articles from the 1950s … 1960s … we know better… much more available, including publications about the Fischer family bringing “Honor” to Brooklyn. In short sir, put a sock in it. Your bigoted intolerance and discrimination against single mothers (misogynistic in your nature) are duly noted! Yes yes, you imply, that for a woman to raise a child alone, without the guiding hand of a male is an impossible task … a failure … a crime against a child. Better a mother should stay with an abusive spouse, perhaps. That's how the patriarchy did it in the “good old days”. Correct? Along with the fact we know, that during 1972 the Soviet network in mass media was hard at work to demoralize Bobby Fischer in the press with false stories such as these. Hoping he might resign and rescind the paper crown to the USSR, on a paper platter, fit only for their paper champion.

The REAL Regina Fischer was a brilliant woman who was a very good mother as well... just as the U.S President's wife,...

Newspapers reveals nothing about such vapid accusations against an “Elliot Forry Laucks” being a “neo nazi” (a thing the Soviet Union was fond of accusing people of without evidence, after all, anyone who dare criticize Soviet policy must be a Fascist, yes?! Or is that yet a lousy idle rumor, a cop out smear campaign? Such as Ralph Ginzburg, who took his smear campaign to Bobby, then his overconfidence enabled him to try it again on a bigger Soviet critic, Barry Goldwater who raised an army of lawyers for Ginzburg's smear campaign that again, came without any factual basis, and likewise had savagely defamed poor Bobby in the press, taking words out of context, failure to produce tape recordings of the more colorful allegations (claimed to Frank Brady he burned them! Imagine that!) from a so-called “interview” which deeply troubled Bobby for years after the traumatizing event. The Soviet paid people like Ginzburg to do just that in the press. The sort of thing written in the above chess column by a detractor of Bobby. But we did find this on record:

Elliot Forry Laucks inherited somewhere around 2 million dollars from his father. If his (clearly decent, law abiding, upstanding member of society) parent, saw any of the inclinations as accused, why would he leave his son such an inheritance? For what earthly purpose would Laucks have mingling with the ranks of low class rabble “neo nazis”? Surely Soviets would like us to believe such a thing, but the bigger question is how do we know it's not a false story, since no credible documentation was provided to substantiate such accusations? And, if Bobby were ever “Jewish” as your last week's article wrongly suggests in its attempt to malign Bobby with Zionist propaganda, the same false belief that Adolf Hitler spread during his speeches that adherents of Judaism are somehow a “racial group” — then why would Forry Laucks (a “neonazi” as you claim without evidence) befriend young Bobby to take him on a trip to Cuba?! Clearly, Laucks was not prejudiced against Bobby (who was neither religious, nor ever a practitioner of Judaism). The Soviet actually paid people to spread such vapid nonsense! and so easily seen through for what it is with only minimal skepticism.

'til the world understands why Robert J. Fischer criticised the U.S./British and Russian military industry imperial alliance and their own Israeli Apartheid. Sarah Wilkinson explains:

Bobby Fischer, First Amendment, Freedom of Speech
What a sad story Fischer was,” typed a racist, pro-imperialist colonial troll who supports mega-corporation entities over human rights, police state policies & white supremacy.
To which I replied: “Really? I think he [Bob Fischer] stood up to the broken system of corruption and raised awareness! Whether on the Palestinian/Israel-British-U.S. Imperial Apartheid scam, the Bush wars of ‘7 countries in 5 years,’ illegally, unconstitutionally which constituted mass xenocide or his run in with police brutality in Pasadena, California-- right here in the U.S., police run rampant over the Constitution of the U.S., on oath they swore to uphold, but when Americans don't know the law, and the cops either don't know or worse, “don't care” -- then I think that's pretty darn “sad”. I think Mr. Fischer held out and fought the good fight, steadfast til the day he died, and may he Rest In Peace.

After which the troll posted a string of profanities, confirming there was never any genuine sentiment of “compassion” for Mr. Fischer, rather an intent to inflict further defamatory remarks.

This ongoing work is a tribute to the life and accomplishments of Robert “Bobby” Fischer who passionately loved and studied chess history. May his life continue to inspire many other future generations of chess enthusiasts and kibitzers, alike.

The photograph of Bobby Fischer (above) from the March 02, 1956 The Tampa Times was discovered by Sharon Mooney (Bobby Fischer Newspaper Archive editor) on February 01, 2018 while gathering research materials for this ongoing newspaper archive project. Along with lost games now being translated into Algebraic notation and extractions from over two centuries of newspapers, it is but one of the many lost treasures to be found in the pages of old newspapers since our social media presence was first established November 11, 2017.
