After drawing the 3rd, 4th and 5th games, Bobby Fischer, U.S.A. grandmaster, went on to win both 6th (67 moves) and 7th (34 moves) in his match with ex-world champion, Tigran Petrosian, USSR, at Buenos Aires. He now needs only two more points in the final five games of their best of 12 games match to earn the right to a match with world champion, Boris Spassky, USSR, in 1972. Here is the fateful 6th, game, a turning point.

(a) Petrosian must have thought he had winning chances with a passed P and a R on the 7th rank, only to discover that he cannot take the P, as the counter-attack would be took strong after B-B6.
(b) The game was adjourned here. Fischer won the RP without having to exchange R's and went on to win in 67 moves, the score of which was not available at press time.
