In the 1958 Intercollegiate team chess tournament at Cleveland Harvard finished second to Chicago; though the Cantabs won the most games their three drawn matches kept them from the top spot.
Arthur Freeman, former Boston champion, played for Harvard and writes: “Every time I see my games in print I seem to be losing … Perhaps the reason for these games appearing is that I lose beautifully; on the other hand, I win in rather ordinary fashion. Then, too, there is the possibility that I lose more games than I win. … The game below I submit merely to show that I have from time to time won games. The point of the thing is the note after move eleven.”
Freeman's opponent represented Penn State. Notes by Freeman.
