Chess Problem.
Today s problem No 86 is a three-mover which the solvers will find very interesting Black — 9 pieces White — 8 pieces White to move end mate in three In last week's end-game which the solvers found to be very subtle many casually took a queen for the promoted white pawn giving check at the same time.
However if the black king goes to Q7 White dare not take the black queen (promoted pawn) as the black king becomes stalemated.
Therefore White’s promoted pawn must become a bishop A queen would become O K if the How-"king black king would go to KtS ever as most solvers eave moves” as Black’s third move it was credited as correct.
Notice again this end play 1— KxB: 2— P-R7 P-R8(Q): 3— P-R8(Bch K moves: 4— BxQ White wins Correct solution to last week’s chess problem was received from Peter A Swart John H Tush A P Sy Buffalo and Howard C Balliett Niagara Falls
