CHESS BY PAUL J. MILLER, Jr. NORVAL WIGGINTON, chess director of the Washington Social j Chess Divan, requests members of the ' Membership Committee to have their ! weekly reports ready for the Divan! meeting at 8 o'clock tonight. Prospective members of the Divan may attend the meeting which will be at 1336 I street northwest. F. W. F. Gleason, Vincent Saporito. Edith Johnson and William E. Bryant are assisting in the membership drive.
Teams A and B have scored 2212 and 18'2, so far in the Divan quintet riot. Team D under the leadership of Gen. Basil Bogoljubov has registered 15Va points to team D's 8>2. Results of the A. W. Whittaker-J. G. Fairchild encounter will be available soon. ^ALDTIMEI^> are welcome to participate m The Star's Fall problem solving tourney. Whether you are in line for a present prize in another tourney does not allay your chances of obtaining any of the awards.
If you have copped a prize in the past, you are eligible to keep up the winning streak. Every Sunday column carries published problems by leading com^sers of international renown. Mail your solutions early. JglMON NAIDEL is drafting the rules for the elimination tourney of the Divan. Formal play begins the first week in October.
Has your club organized its Fall program? Is your club going to cooperate with the local organized chess movement by loyally supporting the Metropolitan Chess Association? Get In the swim. Chess player or not, you ran boost the Metropolitan Chess Association’s planned activity by enrolling as an annual member for only SI. Mail your fee with name and address to the M. C.
